eCommerce platform for bicycle spares & parts in Singapore

Regarding buying bicycle spares and parts, Jet Cycle comes out be one of the biggest retailers in Singapore.

They have multiple stores in Singapore & plan to build some more in the future. Moreover, they plan to build an online store very soon due to the impact of Covid on their business.

Project Scope

Jet Cycle came to us looking for an improved user interface for their current site. It was broken with missing screens with minimal to no information.

We went ahead with explaining their UX improvement with UI.

The goal was to build a product showcase website with the options of eCommerce capabilities that can be added anytime soon.

Goals

→ To build a product showcase website with 1000+ products
→ Providing users with two click access to any product on the site
→ To have hidden eCommerce capabilities that can be used in the future

Challenges

→ 1000+ products were causing a huge load on the WordPress database
→ Migration of huge database from BigCommerce to WordPress
→ Building a theme out of black & orange brand colors

Outcomes

The final design came out really clean, simple, and easy to use.

From finding bicycle spare parts to filtering the categories, and from creating a browser-based wish list to finding a nearby store, everything fell under a few clicks.

Although black & orange was a difficult color combination, our designers did a great job to bring it to perfection.

Styleguides

Based on our discovery session with JY (Founder) and the team, we managed to come up with three different styleguides (one with a black theme).

For this project, our choice matches the client’s choice. We had three themes, all with a different message, but the white-black-orange (Mild) was the most preferred one.

The mild theme included the following:

1. Black for a modern look
2. Orange for vibrant CTA
3. Raster for emotional connection
4. Big bold professional fonts
5. Easy & clean design

UX Design

Based on the approved sitemap by the client, the goal was to design the UX for 20 different pages. Needless to say, category & product pages are templates that can be used repeatedly.

One of the most important requirements of the client was easy accessibility of the products.

So, we decided to go with a full-fledged mega menu that consisted of all the product categories & sub-categories.

Other features that we incorporated were multiple filtering options and a browser-based wishlist to save the desired products.

The site also included eCommerce capabilities and a store locator. These features will be enabled in the future based on the client’s request.

UI Design

Lastly, in the design phase, we were supposed to build high-fidelity designs with interactive prototypes for both desktop & mobile devices.

As always, we went ahead with the mobile-first approach. The goal was to make sure starting from the menu to the products, the user must enjoy using it.

Our designers also added some very good-looking banners that caught the eyes of the users and made the user explore the site more.

The overall design came out really well and it was loved by the client too.

The best part was that the project delivery was super quick. The entire eCommerce project was delivered in 6 weeks\' time with development & deployment.
