eCommerce platform to buy trading cards in USA

More Trading Cards is a one-stop shop to buy trading cards. Their stock includes multiple categories of trading cards including sports, games, and non-sports cards.

As of now, they have multiple offline stores in the United States and are planning to sell worldwide online.

Project Scope

Looking at our creative skills, the MTC team approached us to help them build a brand identity as well as an eCommerce platform to sell cards.

The goal was to build the brand from the ground up and design as well as develop the More Trading Cards e-Portal with all the robust eCommerce features.

Goals

→  Rebrand to match up with the competitor’s
→  Creative and modern UI design
→  Fully dynamic website with a backend
→  Marketing tags and trackers integration

Challenges

→  Database of more than 1000 products
→  To be built on WordPress CMS
→  Customized backend for regular updates
→  Multilingual site (Spanish + English)
→  Robust eCommerce features

Outcomes

The final design came out really creative, modern, and easy to use.

Final deliverables included a sitemap, style guides, logo design, collaterals, brand guidelines, UX design, and UI design.

The output was loved by the client. The feedback received after the final design was very minimal as the client was with us in each phase.

Styleguides

Based on our discovery session with the MTC team, we managed to come up with three different style guides.

The choice was a mixed approach i.e. a combination of raster and vector graphics.

The selected moodboard had the following attributes:

1. Bright red with light shades of blue
2. Vector graphics combined with raster
3. Curved design to bring out friendliness
4. The light theme for easy accessibility
5. Simple & minimalistic approach

Logo Design

We had so many ideas for the logo ranging from a wordmark to a stack of cards but nothing seemed to work.

Finally, we thought of representing cards in form of the letter ‘M’.

More Tarding Cards - logo

Our designers used borderlines to combine a set of two cads in form of the letter ‘M’.

On the other hand, the wordmark was designed using a san-serif font with the word ‘Cards’ being the highlight.

Collaterals

Apart from the logo, the client required us to design physical and digital collaterals.

This includes cover images, social media posts, visiting cards, letterheads, etc.

Guidelines

Finally, we jump to creating a brand guide that can be used by the client & other third-party vendors to maintain brand authenticity.

The following details were included in the brand guide:

1. Brand Strategy
2. Logo Family & Usage
3. Typography & Colors
4. Iconography & Photography
5. Collaterals and Mockups

UX Design

Based on the approved sitemap, we were supposed to build the UX for 32 pages including the user dashboard. Due to a lack of references, the activity was difficult.

After designing some low fidelity designs, we planned to have a robust UX strategy session with the client & team.

The goal was to understand the complete product review process from uploading it to the portal to getting the customer approval.

The 4-hour workshop led to some great results. The final UX (Mid Fidelity) designs were super simple to understand & use.

Our team was also responsible for the entire content of the More Trading Cards project. This included technical content, company-related content, and the UX copy.

UI Design

Lastly, in the design phase, we were supposed to build high-fidelity designs with interactive prototypes for both desktop & mobile devices.

Like all our projects, we went ahead with the mobile-first approach for this application.

The UX was combined with the approved style guide and the final design was outstanding.

The development was done on WordPress CMS with a timeline of 4 weeks followed by deployment.

We faced several challenges while integrating robust eCommerce features and optimizing the site for the best performance. However, in the end, the outcome was loved by the client.
